We had a great time at the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival last weekend. We watched a few shows, ate some ostrich jerky, and made some fun purchases. I got a cd from the bagpipe/drum show we watched and a pair of green fairy wings. Paul got a wooden katana from a dealer whose wares he’s been drooling over for years.
Speaking of shopping, Etsy (a pretty awesome site for people interested buying or selling handmade stuff) has this really sweet function called alchemy. Essentially, it allows you to go and ask the internet to make you something. For example, I asked for a pair of earrings with this Jedi symbol on them. I named the price I’d like to pay, and people who thought they could make the earrings for me bid on the job. A week later, I had my earrings. I’m wearing them RIGHT NOW. There’s a matching pendant in the mail. Living in the future is awesome.
I also ordered some things for my costume for my friend Linda’s Harry Potter party. I’m making a Hufflepuff scarf, and I ordered knee socks and a pin. Paul got me a tie and a wand. (He already has a wand. ^_^ I know, I know. We’re HUGE NERDS.)
In other news, I’ve started working on a novel. Amy and Katy have both been encouraging me, and I am really fond of the world and the story, so maybe I’ll be able to keep focused on it long enough to get a rough draft down. Wish me luck.
Kass and I are getting close to the end of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. I really, really, really love this show.
Oooh, and I caught the end of Shatner’s new show last night. It was hilarious. I love him. *swoon*
